Indeed Client Update

Why your jobs may not be appearing on Indeed

Issue
For some clients jobs submitted by hireful to Indeed are not appearing in search results, or application volumes from Indeed have dropped.

Root cause
This is not a hireful fault. We were recently told since March 2026, Indeed has made a commercial decision to limit free organic job visibility and we have seen an increase in this over recent weeks. This change is affecting employers across the industry, not just hireful customers. This is a commercial decision from our partner Indeed and is not a technical matter. hireful continues to deliver your job data to Indeed correctly.

What has changed

For many years, jobs submitted to Indeed through an ATS like hireful appeared in candidate search results for free. That model has now changed.

Indeed has moved to a commercial model where free organic visibility is no longer guaranteed. Jobs that previously appeared in search results automatically may now receive reduced visibility or may not appear at all. This is a deliberate platform decision by Indeed - it is not a technical fault with hireful or your job feed.

Indeed's search results are also now personalised. Every candidate sees a different set of results based on their own search history, location, and profile. This means you may search for your own job on Indeed and not find it, even when it is live and receiving applications. This is normal behaviour and is not an indicator that something is wrong.

The advice from Indeed is not to search for your own jobs to test whether they are live. Doing so uses up the limited visibility budget Indeed assigns to each listing, reducing the chance that genuine candidates will see it. To check performance, log in to your Indeed employer account and review your impressions, clicks, and applications directly (see below for instructions on how to do this). This will also show if any roles have been flagged and therefore not live at all.

hireful's role

hireful submits your published jobs to Indeed as part of our platform. Our responsibility is to deliver your job data accurately and promptly. Whether Indeed then chooses to display those jobs in search results is entirely at their discretion.

We only hold a technical integration. There is no contract between hireful and Indeed that guarantees your jobs will be listed. Indeed may contact you directly about paid options, that is a separate commercial conversation between you and Indeed.

While we want to ensure you are getting the most from Indeed our responsibility ends at delivering your data. What Indeed does with that data is their decision.

We are here to help

Even though we cannot control or influence this decision from Indeed, the team at hireful, is keen to try and help you mitigate the effects of this decision. So if you want to discuss how best to navigate this issue, please reach out directly to your hireful account manager.

What to check first
Your Indeed employer account

Log in to your Indeed employer account, if unsure how to do this, this article should help. Jobs that hireful has submitted should appear here even if they are not currently visible to candidates. If jobs are present in your employer account but not showing in search results, Indeed has restricted the listing. If jobs are not appearing in your employer account at all, you may need to contact Indeed as they may need to activate a sync at their side.

Important: the company name on your Indeed employer account must exactly match the company name you use in hireful. Even a minor difference can cause Indeed to create a separate unclaimed page for your jobs, making them unmanageable and harder to track.

Your job data quality in hireful

Incomplete or poorly structured job data increases the likelihood of Indeed filtering or suppressing a role. For every affected job, check the following:

  • Job title: keep it simple and clean. Avoid brackets, location details, salary mentions, or scheduling information in the title.
  • Location: complete all four fields - Town/City, County, Postcode, and Country. Always select United Kingdom, not England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland.
  • Remote roles: if a role is remote, still assign a town and postcode. Roles posted as remote with no location are increasingly being deprioritised by Indeed. Confirm the role is remote within the job description body.
  • Advert copy: do not include email addresses or phone numbers in the body of the advert. Make each job description unique - copying the same text across multiple roles reduces the chance of each one being listed.
  • Duplicate postings: do not remove and repost a role to refresh its position. Indeed detects this pattern and may suppress similar-looking listings as a result.

If your free feed has been restricted
If Indeed has restricted your organic feed, this can vary from some jobs getting restricted visibility, through to all jobs getting no visibility. Your jobs will still appear in your Indeed employer account but will not be visible to candidates in search results. If this is happening they should appear as being flagged within your Indeed portal. At this point, paid options are the main route to restoring visibility. These are managed directly through your Indeed employer account or with an Indeed account representative.

  • Sponsor individual jobs: set a budget per vacancy on an ad hoc basis directly through your Indeed employer account. This is the most flexible option for lower vacancy volumes.
  • Job slots: a slot-based model for higher vacancy volumes, where a set number of reusable placements rotate between roles. Discussed directly with an Indeed account representative.
  • Budget campaigns: load a fixed budget and Indeed allocates spend across your active roles automatically. Less hands-on but gives you less visibility into where budget is used.
If you are speaking to Indeed directly

Before contacting Indeed, we'd recommend speaking with your hireful account manager first, particularly if you're looking to arrange a call or meeting with them. We're happy to join that call, and it's something we've done on a number of occasions.

Having us on the call means you go in prepared. We can help you think through how to present your situation clearly and make sure the conversation covers what it needs to. Once the call is done, we can give you an independent view of what was discussed and talk through your options with you. Being on the call puts us in a much better position to help you decide how you want to proceed.
